Interviewed by the British tabloid The Guardianthe former center forward of Juventus, Lazio and Inter, Christian Vieribrought back some memories of the past and his career as a footballer. One above all marked him a lot, namely the argument with Marcello Lippihad as coach at the ‘Vecchia Signora’: “I was on the bench and Boksic got injured. So I played about 10 minutes in the first half. Then Lippi tells me something. I say: ‘But I only played five minutes, what do you want from me?’. I was nervous because I wasn’t playing, so I replied to him. He came at me. We argued, then he took me out. Not really a physical fight, because another player stopped us. That means you care.”
Vieri only stayed at Juventus for one season, after which he chose to get on a flight to Madrid and sign with Atletico: “Everyone was relaxed there. During the pre-season I ran like crazy. Everyone said: ‘Where are you going? Relax, take it easy,'” Bobo Vieri commented.
With a final dispassionate dedication to Interwhere he played between 1999 and 2005: “We were a fantastic team. When I arrived I saw Ronaldo and told him: ‘I came here to play with you!’ He started laughing. We had phenomenal players. We could have won everything. All those players you could have in attack with Ronaldo, Adriano, Crespo, Recoba, Roberto Baggio, it was fucking fantastic.”
