Lazio, Pedro sincere: “I never imagined winning 25 titles in my career”

The Lazio striker Pedro to the microphones of El Dia he analyzed the highlights of Lazio’s season, talked about his future, the Spanish national team and his relationship with Tenerife. Below are his words: “They love me a lot in Tenerife, perhaps too much for what I deserve (laughs, ed.). It was a shame never to have played there with the national team shirt, but I’m happy that Yeremy Pino, Ayoze and Pedri they can realize this dream on Monday. I will follow the team from afar, as always, hoping that one of the three scores a goal. It would be a great joy for me to get to the national team, to play in important championships and of course I am very happy in general for everything I was able to give to Spain. Now I follow her every time she plays.”

Tenerife: “I still had the opportunity to play in Tenerife with Barcelona. It was a special, beautiful match. The most exciting thing in these situations is playing close to your people, in my case relatives who had never seen me live. Luckily I had a good game and I remember that I also scored. It’s a shame that it wasn’t repeated more times because Tenerife weren’t in La Liga in the following years, but it’s a team that I carry in my heart because it’s my country’s. Even though I have never played with them in the team, I hope it reaches the top flight as soon as possible. It would be nice for everyone.”

Career: “I’m happy, I feel privileged and I can’t complain. I never imagined winning 25 titles in my career, winning the Champions League, the World Cup, playing for two of the best teams in history… I I’m obviously referring to the national team and Barcelona. But it was also an honor to defend the colors of Chelsea and now I’m very happy to be at Lazio. Maybe they didn’t recognize me as much in the media, I don’t know, it’s something we’ll be able to judge further forward, when I retire. I have been able to dedicate myself professionally to what I like most and I am still doing it at my age with extraordinary affection from my teammates, coaches and fans. I have made so many efforts, so many sacrifices. but what I will always carry with me when all this is over will be the affection of the people. This is what matters most.”

Lazio: “Obviously I would like to win something with Lazio because I have had the chance to win a title in all my seasons, except in Italy. I would like to do it here because Lazio is a historic club, with a history like that of Chelsea or Barcelona. I know it’s more difficult here due to several factors, but at the moment we’re doing well and we’re also top of the table in the Europa League. We’ll see how far we can get. But without a doubt I would like to retire by winning a trophy , but when my time comes I will step aside, I will do it with discretion and it will be difficult, but no more and no less than what other teammates and friends have already done.”

The 2024/25 season: “I have a more important role than last year. I’m the oldest on the team, but I still try to help out like the others. I feel at ease, close to the young people, I teach them what I know… This It’s my role. Obviously it’s not the same as my past experiences, but I feel equally important and appreciated by others. All this is fundamental when it comes to playing. When the time comes I will make a decision about my future, but for now I think just to enjoy the rest of the season. We’ll see how far we get.”

About the Pedro Museum: “It is a project that we are already working on and that will be done once I retire. I am open to all options, but it would be nice if it was in Tenerife. The idea is to collect all the things that I have kept: trophies, awards, shirts, boots… and give them to people so they can see them up close.”

Nico Paz of Como: “He’s a machine. He started the year very well, he has the trust of Fabregas and I had the opportunity to talk to him. He is a skilled and interesting player who I have followed a lot. I like his way of playing.”
