Scotland, Clarke still hopes to qualify: “In Poland to win, then we’ll see”

Scotland achieved their first victory in the Nations League group stage, on the penultimate matchday, thanks to a late McGinn goal against Croatia. At the end of the match the technical commissioner Steve Clarke analyzed the match on the official UEFA channels: “It’s been a long time since we won an official match, so I’m happy for the players. When you play against a good team, and Croatia is a good team even with ten men, it’s always a satisfaction They made it very difficult for us to create play in the second half. We created some opportunities; we didn’t take advantage of them, but to be honest we remained patient.”

As he continues his analysis of the match, Clarke also looks to the future. In the last match of the group, against Poland away, we will have to win and hope that Croatia loses against Portugal. “We kept trying to get there, we kept trying to do the right things and eventually one of Ben Doak’s runs paid off and McGinn scored. Poland? For us the goal has always been to go to Poland and win. We have to win the match in Poland and that’s what we will try to do.”
