“A big problem? That’s why they called me.” Claudio Ranieri and the Rome third act. With these brief words, the Testaccio coach, yesterday evening, confirmed the rumors regarding his return to the Giallorossi to replace the sacked Ivan Juric.
For the former Cagliari coach, this is the third adventure on the Giallorossi bench, after those of 2009 and 2019. And in this case too he was called to try to revive the team and straighten out a season that seems to have started with the worst prospects. Yesterday afternoon the meeting in London with Dan and Ryan Friedkin in which the white smoke arrived, then the return to Italy and the crowd at Fiumicino with over 300 fans present to give him the first farewell. Excited, Ranieri did not want to speak to the official appointment which has been postponed until tomorrow, when he will lead the first training session in Trigoria in the afternoon in view of a calendar which will see his team engaged against Napoli, Tottenham and Atalanta when the championship resumes.
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti also approves of Roma’s choice and commented: “Ranieri has profound knowledge of those places, he comes from Testaccio. It’s a choice made well. I believe he has everything necessary to be able to do well and solve the problems things”.
