Matias VecinoLazio midfielder, spoke into the microphone of Lalaziasiamonoi.it for an exclusive interview, during which he also focused on the importance of the figure of Maurizio Sarri, the man who wanted him in the Biancoceleste team: “He changed my career. I hadn’t yet found continuity, then he designed me a role and taught me many things on a tactical level. It was the first year in which I played 40 games in a row and all from the first minute I returned to Fiorentina ready to be the starter several times in Naples, then we met here at Lazio and it gave me the opportunity to reevaluate myself as a reliable player.”
This is a Lazio that comes from Sarri and Tudor, but above all it is from Marco Baroni: how much has it changed in this year and a half?
“It’s changed a lot, we’re talking about different coaches and different people. In today’s times, however, a footballer must know how to adapt to different situations and requests. It always takes a little time to change methodologies and training, but I think we are doing it very well. Mister Baroni is a simple person, very direct with his concepts, who trusts the players a lot and listens to them. We are happy, I think that from the outside you can see that there is a beautiful environment of great unity, where we all feel important. Playing every three days this is fundamental.”
The greatest credit for this period seems to go to Marco Baroni. What coach is he? What is the most important thing you have given to this Lazio team, both tactically and off the pitch?
“At pitch level he wants a more vertical team compared to Sarri’s idea. Baroni wants to attack immediately, put the wingers in one-on-one situations and create difficulties for the opponents. And we have players who make the difference on the flanks. Then he is a coach who wants to arrive with a lot of people in attack, he doesn’t want to cover himself for fear of taking a restart. We must always attack and be a team that proposes and transmits something to people. I believe that for the moment we are succeeding. Anyone who sees this Lazio from the outside has fun, regardless of the result, right down to the end it is a team that always seeks victory, despite the mistakes.”
