Today in Verona, at the Fonderia Aperta Theatre, Virtus Verona presented the team that will participate in the FIGC Experimental Paralympic Football Division championship.
The project was born in collaboration with Aias and represents a further step in the promotion of barrier-free inclusion through sport, at the service of the community and athletes with disabilities. The President of Serie C attended the event Matteo Marani and the Mayor of Verona Damiano Tommasi. Always involved in social issues, the rossoblù association wishes to offer an additional opportunity in its territory, not only sporting, but also human. An initiative that aims to provide children with disabilities the opportunity to express their potential, establish new friendships and overcome challenges together on and off the pitch, upholding the values of respect and mutual support.
The Virtussina team, made up of 15 athletes led by coach Davide Cisamolo, has already started training sessions at the “Mirko Mazzola” sports center in Verona, a facility also used by the Rossoblù First Team, in view of the new season. The group, already close-knit, meets twice a week to share their passion for football and, also through the club’s coaches and collaborators, develop their skills and build a team spirit that goes beyond the playing field. The program of the new championship, with matches for seven players per team, will be drawn up every day with a start scheduled for the end of November.
Diego Campedelli, General Director of Virtus Verona: “For Virtus Verona it is an honor to enroll one of its teams in the FIGC DCPS championship. An achievement that has come to fruition thanks above all to Aias and the commitment of many collaborators of our club. We are honored that President Marani and Mayor Tommasi brought their testimony on such a beautiful and important day for us. It is a desired project, in line with the numerous solidarity and beneficial initiatives that Virtus has undertaken during its long history increasingly a social reference towards our community with the aim, as on this occasion, of making football accessible to anyone who wishes to experience this passion”.
Matteo MaraniPresident of Serie C: “We are proud to have socially attentive teams like Virtus Verona in our Serie C NOW. Projects like this are fundamental, they help the territory and have the power to unite.”
