Ruben Dias appears to have no qualms about the skepticism surrounding Manchester City’s title ambitions this season, insisting doubts only fuel the team’s determination to excel.
The Citizens, under the careful guidance of Pep Guardiola, made history last season by winning four consecutive Premier League titles, overcoming Arsenal on the final day of the 2023/24 season. But this season has started very differently and in recent weeks there have been three defeats for Guardiola’s team, including the heavy 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth.
But Dias, a pillar of City’s defence, welcomes this pressure. “Please doubt us, feel free to do so,” he said during a news conference. “When we won the treble, we talked about that dark January when we faced adversity. However, it is part of the journey. What really matters is how we respond to these challenges. Our success is rooted in our ability to come together in moments Instead of pointing fingers, we come together and fight for a common cause. This is our approach, and we will continue to support this mentality. The fight is not over until it truly is.”
