Adrianformer striker for Inter, Fiorentina, Parma and Roma in Italy, who in his career won a Confederations Cup, a Copa America, 2 league titles, 2 Italian Cups, 3 Italian Super Cups, a Brazilian Champions Cup and two Brazilian championships, spoke in his autobiography, entitled My biggest fearof some of the worst moments of his career: “I would come home and always find a reason to drink, either because my friends were there or because I didn’t want to stay silent and think about bullshit.”

Adrian he continues: “Many people use football as an outlet. I, on the other hand, needed an escape from football. My escape from football was my family and my father. When he left, my partner it became drinking. I was late to training. The club tried to cover it up. They gave me fines, but I didn’t care. My depression had reached a level that I don’t even want to remember.”

Adrian he then also talks about Inter’s role in the affair: “One day Moratti told me: ‘We would like to send you to a special place’. They wanted to send me to a rehabilitation clinic in Switzerland. I was depressed. I didn’t understand what they were talking about: ‘Why are you trying to send me to a mental hospital?’. I started to get nervous. A player admitted to rehab, no!”
