While waiting for Morata, good news for Fonseca and Milan: no England for Tomori

While waiting to know if Alvaro Morata will respond to the call of his coach Luis De La Fuente, meanwhile Paulo Fonseca and Milan have received at least some good news on the Fikayo Tomori front. The English defender was in fact among Carsley’s candidates to fill the void left in the England squad by the various absences that have added up, but – at least for the moment and without prejudice to new stoppages not currently reported – the official news has already arrived that the choices of the English coach have fallen on other protagonists. And in this way Fonseca will at least be able to work fully with Tomori during the break, considering that one central defender (Pavlovic) has already seen him go to the national team and that another (Gabbia) is still struggling with some physical problems.

This is the note issued by the accounts of the English Football Federation: “Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has received his first senior call-up. Jarrod Bowen and Jarrad Branthwaite, along with Tino Livramento and James Trafford, both of whom have no international caps, have also been added to Lee Carsley’s squad. This comes as following the loss of eight players ahead of this week’s UEFA Nations League matches Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice. and Bukayo Saka are unavailable. Now a squad of 23 players will prepare for Thursday’s trip to Greece and Sunday’s match against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley.”

On Morata, however, De La Fuente spoke like this: “He is undergoing tests and is passing them. If no problems emerge he will stay with us. For now everything is going well.”
