Fiorentina, Comuzzo: “I would like to win the Champions League. And a World Cup with Italy”

Pietro Comuzzo, defender of Fiorentinaspoke to the FIGC channels in view of being called up to the national team: “It’s an honor to be called up to the national team because when you play you give everything. Being here is recognition for what I’m doing and a satisfaction. Football is everything for me : work, a way to express myself and to be happy. The one who pushed me to play was my father who was a goalkeeper and who passed on his passion to me.”

Can you tell us about your beginnings?
“I started playing in Tricesimo and then I moved to Udinese, from 6 to 13 years old. Then I spent a year at Pordenone and I have now been in Florence for six years. The first year at Fiorentina, in the Under 15s, I was together with my brother Francesco and having him there was easier for me to integrate, since I didn’t know anyone.”

Who do you have as role models?
“I am inspired by Giorgio Chiellini and his leadership, both on and off the pitch. I would like to be able to ask him for some advice.”

There were also bad moments, of mourning…
“Last year I lost my mother and in that period being in Florence, away from her, weighed on me. Her loss gave me an internal push to always do better for her. Sometimes having loved ones close to you It seems obvious but then at any moment you lose them. It hurt, of course, but the skill of my family was to remain united even in a moment like this, in which we gave ourselves the strength to carry on.”

He debuted in Naples.
“We were towards the end of the match and we were winning 2-1. I was sitting on the bench, I wasn’t even warming up. Then at a certain point the Coach (Italian, ed.) calls me and tells me to go and warm up. It was something very quick, at the time I didn’t even have a chance to understand what was happening. I only realized it after the game when I heard from my family and friends.”

Now Italy.
“It’s always an emotion to receive the call, to be able to play with this shirt and sing the anthem. It’s an emotion that can’t be told but only experienced. How do you form a group? By being together, talking and working as best you can. The guys here are all amazing.”

Can you tell us about your private life?
“Off the field I am a normal person. This year I finished high school. I study, I like to read and I often stay at home following many sports: Moto GP, Formula 1, Athletics, Cycling, Basketball, Tennis, I like everything. .. Now I’m reading a book related to cycling. Another idol is Lebron James, especially because of how much he works and how old he is.”

And dreams?
“Playing a World Cup with Italy and maybe even winning it… at club level I would like to win the Champions League. If you have to dream it’s best to do it by aiming as high as possible.”
