The Monza loses its third straight game, second straight at U-Power Stadium. There Lazio in fact it passed thanks to Zaccagni’s goal a few minutes before the break who scored with a curling conclusion that was as beautiful as it was fundamental in deciding the match. To the team of Alessandro Nesta there was no lack of good will, in fact the commitment was there and, especially in the second half, everything was done to try to equalise. But unfortunately, goals, quality and malice continue to be lacking when it comes down to it. The coach’s analysis in the post-match press conference.
8.45pm – The press conference begins Alessandro Nesta
Nesta, we had to score points. Defending well but it remains a sterile attack. How come?
“All things considered, the forwards also scored, Mota for example put together four. Some canceled them out for us. The matches are all more or less similar, I don’t believe in bad luck or chance and when we have three-four chances against teams we have to exploit them. The coach has to understand why, it’s up to me to understand how to solve the problem, the players always try hard.”
What do you think of the Lazio match?
“They were good at taking advantage of the opportunity, they are a very strong team and there must be a reason if they are so high in the table. You can see that the players are all involved and honestly they made an excellent impression on me. But we had to score when the game was still tied. Unfortunately after the deficit we lost ourselves a bit, in the second half we need to think better, I personally will have to understand and analyze things clearly.”
From your point of view, can Lazio make it to the end in the championship? Do you dream of coaching Lazio one day?
“I am a balanced person, even when I was playing I always tried to do my best without wanting to influence anyone. I think about the work on the pitch. Clearly this Lazio can get to the end even if there are many other very strong teams.”
Was it Monza’s credit for putting Lazio in the second half or was it their decline?
“I think we started well in the first half, clearly the disadvantage took something away from us. In the second half we risked something more, but despite everything I liked the team at the start too. The mental aspect after Lazio’s goal still helped influenced the minds of my players”
