Final result: Cagliari-Milan 3-3
Cagliari’s report cards (by Filippo D’Angelo)
Sherri 4.5 – He is called into action by Nicola in place of Scuffet but commits some naivety, like the one that led to Abraham’s goal during the momentary 2-3 draw for Milan.
Augello 7 – On the left wing he is a constant problem, a thorn in Emerson Royal’s side who has not been able to contain him. He makes two assists with the kiss for Zappa, who uses one of his balls to make it 3-3.
Luperto 6 – He wins several duels and commands respect from Camarda, despite some naivety because his defense has always conceded three goals this evening.
Palomino 5.5– Test with ups and downs for the former Atalanta player, who alternates excellent plays with blunders properly exploited by the Milan attack. Leao has more than one responsibility for the 1-2 score. From 74′ Wieteska 6 – Take part in the rossoblu maneuver and play a sufficient amount of it.
Hoe 7.5 – The hero of the evening. VAR took away a goal in the first half due to Viola’s offside but he took everything back in the second half, hitting Milan twice. The 3-3 goal is a marvel, to be seen again and again.
Makoumbou 6 – A match of great sacrifice for the Cagliari midfielder, who offers another impressive performance, especially from a physical and athletic point of view. From 79′ Marin sv.
Deiola 6 – An intense test of character for Nicola’s midfielder, who sent good signals against Milan.
Luvumbo 6.5 – He creates a lot and often takes defenders for a walk, proving to be one of the most proactive despite not taking home any bonuses.
Viola 6 – He opens the bonus account with an assist for Zortea and then pounces on the ball kicked by Zappa to make it 2-2 but his touch effectively nullifies Cagliari’s equalizer, given that he was offside. From the 73rd minute Gaetano 6 – A segment in which he fought a lot.
Zortea 6.5 – After two minutes he mocks Milan with a right-footed shot to the corner, resulting from a Viola corner. Goal aside, he has several chances and also commands respect in the defensive phase. From 79′ Lapadula 6 – An acrobatics and then a lot of dirty work for the former Milan player.
Small 6 – He swells the net in the first half but VAR takes away his joy due to an offside. He plays with his opponents and brings home a full passing grade. From 78′ Pavoletti 6 – He tries at the end and also shows up near Maignan.
Davide Nicola 6.5 – After the defeat against Lazio, his Cagliari demonstrated once again that they have character, picking up a match that seemed practically lost at the end. An excellent signal in the race for salvation.
Milan’s report cards (edited by Giacomo Iacobellis)
Maignan 6.5 – Not guilty of the three goals conceded, he saves all the saves, drawing applause especially on Zortea’s header and his low exit on Piccoli.
Emerson Royal 5.5 – Suffers the challenge in the match against Luvumbo, redeems himself with a great defensive diagonal in the second half, but is not very involved in the offensive maneuver (From 81′ Tomori sv).
Thiaw 5.5 – The German defender against Cagliari is the only one to give guarantees of reliability, or at least the least worst of a defensive line that is leaking on all sides. Especially on the left.
Pavlovic 5 – It skids, it skids too much. He gets the timing of the advances wrong and often gives the feeling of being in the wrong place at the right time.
Theo Hernandez 4.5 – If Leao is back, or in any case is coming back, the same certainly cannot be said of the French winger. Cagliari’s first goal came from their area, the second – later annulled by VAR – also did not arrive at 3-3. In the end one almost wonders: is the former Real Madrid player him or Gabriele Zappa? Not to mention the mystery taken at the end…
Fofana 6 – On the one hand the enlightening pass for Leao during the Rossoneri’s 1-2 draw, on the other the involuntary assist to Zappa for the 2-2 draw for Cagliari. We give him a passing grade because the action that leads to Abraham’s 2-3 also starts from his feet and because his work is fundamental both when he defends and when he gets up.
Reijnders 7 – The little move that sends Leao through to make it 1-1 is a delight to watch on YouTube for years. Today, together with the rediscovered Portuguese and the usual Pulisic, he is Milan’s most decisive player. The one who calls the ball, calls the movements of his teammates and is also decisive in fantasy football terms.
Chukwueze 5.5 – He doesn’t lack the desire, nor the ability to skip the man, but he wastes a huge opportunity when the young Camarda gives him a penalty on the move. It’s still too intermittent to be considered a champion (From 65′ Loftus-Cheek 5.5 – The former Chelsea player enters limply in a very tense moment of the match and his quantity there in the middle would have been very useful).
Pulisic 6.5 – Another performance of great substance for the American striker, who props up Abraham’s goal to make it 2-3 and, at the same time, plays an all-out game. He is probably still running on the lawn of the Unipol Domus (From 82′ Musah sv).
Leao 7.5 – Rafa is back! “A clue is a clue, two clues are a coincidence, but three clues are proof”: we ask Agatha Christie to confirm, in the field, that the Portuguese has returned – or has finally started – to make an impact. Two goals, one more beautiful than the other, and that feeling of constant danger that only champions know how to convey to their opponents. With and without the ball (From 82′ Okafor sv).
Chamber 6 – The 16-year-old striker is chosen to start in place of the injured Morata and becomes the second player ever to start from the 1st minute in Milan’s history. His willing performance is not rewarded with goals or assists, but it is still that of a player destined for a bright future. He’s not afraid, he doesn’t get upset, for him it’s like playing with his peers (From the 66th minute Abraham 6.5 – Enters and scores, served by Sherri after Pulisic’s shot. An injection of confidence for the English center forward, who can be very useful to Fonseca in matches like this).
Paulo Fonseca 5.5 – Leao is back again, scorer of two goals and an absolute driving force after the benching in recent weeks, but on his right flank Nicola’s Cagliari really does what they want. Zappa scores three times and luckily for the Devil one of these three goals is annulled: was there really no way to stem him before he sealed the 3-3 draw that definitively closed the match? Courageous but wise, however, was the choice to trust the baby bomber Camarda from the 1st minute.
