There’s very little left until the super scudetto challenge between Inter and Napoli scheduled at San Siro this evening. By beating Conte’s team, the Nerazzurri would leapfrog them to the top of the table, with the Azzurri looking for a prompt response after the home defeat against Atalanta.
After Conte’s conference on Friday, yesterday it was the turn of Simone Inzaghi present the challenge against Napoli: “A different match, compared to the success over Arsenal… Certainly yes, European matches have great intensity. Tomorrow against Napoli it will be a good match, we face the team that is leading the championship and Mister Conte has already managed to give excellent organization to the team, which is strong and of quality. We will need one of the best Inters to play a great match in front of our fans. What is the key to maintaining balance? We know, we are trying to recover from Wednesday’s match. We know Napoli, they are an organized team that only conceded away goals in the first match. We know their qualities and we are preparing to have a great race.”
The latest on Inter
Simone Inzaghi finds the full team again, with the sole exception of Carlos Augusto. The main doubt concerns the center of defense: Acerbi is recovered and would be the most natural choice against Lukaku, but he hasn’t played since October 20th and even against Arsenal he didn’t put any minutes into his legs. De Vrij, on the other hand, performed well in the absence of his teammate: the ballot was open, with the Italian the favourite. Other minor doubts concern the right chain: Bisseck did very well and threatens Pavard, while Dumfries is ahead of Darmian. For the rest, the gala Inter will return: Bastoni in defense ahead of Sommer, in midfield we will see the trio of Barella, Calhanoglu and Mkhitaryan with Dimarco on the left. Thuram and Lautaro in attack.
The latest on Napoli
After the heavy home defeat against Atalanta, Antonio Conte will once again rely on his starting players for this match, with the only doubt regarding the inclusion of Lobotka from the first minute: otherwise Gilmour will be ready to start again. For the rest, there is no doubt about the lineup for the match against Inter on Sunday evening, with Meret between the posts and a defense made up of Rrahmani and Buongiorno in the middle with captain Di Lorenzo and Olivera on the sides. As was said in the director’s room, there should still be Gilmour in the control room, supported by Anguissa and McTominay. In attack, despite the dull performance against Atalanta, the trident with Politano-Lukaku-Kvaratskhelia was confirmed.
