After Madrid’s prestigious and convincing triumph in the Champions League, it is time for Milan to return to playing in the league. For Paulo Fonseca there is the match against Cagliari, to be faced without Morata, with the Rossoneri coach who spoke like this in the press conference: “It is important to keep in mind the good things we have done, but it is also important to understand that in Cagliari it will be a different match We have to be a different team to be able to play against Cagliari. It will be a totally different match. Since Wednesday I have stopped thinking about Madrid to think about Cagliari: we need the right attitude to win tomorrow.”
The surprise news from Milan’s press conference, however, comes from Paulo Fonseca’s announcement regarding who will play in attack in Cagliari: Abraham as starter? I’ll say it right away, in half an hour you’ll know: Camarda is playing tomorrow.”
Why the choice of Camarda? Fonseca’s explanation
“For me it’s not surprising. He works with us every day. I think everyone in the club believes in him a lot, he works well and understands the role well. For me the players have no age, they have quality. And he shows it every day who has quality. Morata has a very specific role at the moment. Morata is not always a striker, but many times he is a player who unlocks the passing lines. I think Camarda is more ready than Abraham at the moment. And I have to say that Abraham is not totally well but he is better. I have total faith in Camarda. He has trained very well. He is at his age, but he has great maturity, he works a lot for the team defensively. Yesterday we had this Morata problem. I didn’t have a single doubt about who should play tomorrow.”
Camarda will beat Donnarumma for just one day
With Morata out after the blow to the head yesterday in training, therefore, Fonseca has decided that tomorrow against Cagliari Francesco Camarda will be at the center of the Rossoneri attack, who will make his first ever start with the AC Milan shirt at 16 years, 7 months and 30 days. In the history of the club from via Aldo Rossi, only one other player made his debut from the first minute at a younger age than Camarda: it was Giuseppe Sacchi in a Milan-Fiorentina match on 25 October 1942 at 16 years, 7 months and 17 days.
These are the Top 5 of this special ranking:
