Cagliari, Nicola: “Luvumbo is improving, he has a specific position on the pitch”

The Cagliari coach spoke at a press conference on the eve of the match against Milan Davide Nicola he also talked about the moment of Zito Luvumbo

“He is improving. He has a specific position on the pitch, and his characteristics are functional to this. We must help him not only live from his ideas, but from team play. He did well in Rome, he was much more attentive to orientation of the body. When he lowered his frenzy he found the goal. I’m happy with him. They will undoubtedly have their weight because they are important players, we can’t afford to count on a limited number of players.”

The attack is in trouble. How do you work on this?
“I don’t work on the players’ heads. I work on the quality of the game, on the choices, on the passing. You have to persevere, without alibis. The boys work hard and only with the desire to improve you don’t think about the rest.”

At what point is the team’s identity?
“We are respecting the intentions at the start of the championship. It is clear that the automatisms need time. We have a precise identity, which varies depending on the opponent. Now the second objective begins: that of improving the automatisms, the quality, playing times, and, above all, don’t go back.”

Piccoli seems too isolated, but also frenetic in his choices: how is he working?
“Already said before: he’s a 2002 player. He’s playing a lot, we believe in him. I agree about the frenzy. He has an instinct linked to shooting: if he doesn’t do it he feels bad. He has to understand when it’s good to do it, sometimes it’s better make another choice. I don’t agree that it is isolated.
