Ancelotti: “The worst mistake of my career was asking Real Madrid for more money in 2014”

Carlo Ancelotticoach of Real Madrid, spoke at the press conference today and analyzed his and his team’s moment after the defeats against Barcelona and Milan: “It is impossible to make only good decisions in thirty years. For example, I had a bad time here in Madrid, after the first year, in 2014/15. I was very close to renewing my contract, the club wanted to keep me, but I put too much pressure on my salary and they stopped me (he was fired at the end of the season, ed.). It was a mistake, the worst I could have made. But it allowed me to learn.”

Do you consider yourself the best coach of the last 30 years?
“No, I don’t think so. I won a lot, but other coaches even more than me. Ferguson, Guardiola or Lobanovski. And even if I thought I was the best coach of the last thirty years, what would happen? Would they make a statue of me? I don’t think so (laughs, ed.)”.

The Italian coach is not worried and on the eve of the match against Osasuna he declared: “He is training well, he is going through a difficult moment… like all of us. And like everyone, you have to think that this is an opportunity , that if you are intelligent you can get out of it quickly, putting more concentration and attitude. This is how the problems should be addressed. The problem he suffers from is everyone’s problem and he cannot bring out his best version an opportunity to be better in the future. I am convinced that he will make it and so will Vinicius, Rodrygo, Bellingham… and me. It’s a difficult time for everyone, it’s evident. It’s normal in a sport where defeat is also contemplated.”
