Mandorlini: “Triestina, gross mistakes made. Trapani? Statements put pressure”

TMW Radio

Andrea Mandorlini, coach and former footballer, spoke to the microphones of TMW Radio during the transmission To All C:

Are Padua and Vicenza the favourites?
“For me Padua and Vicenza are the favorites and for me they will fight it out until the end together with Feralpisalò”.

What do you think of the Trapani president’s statements?
“I read the statements a bit. I don’t know him but I know he is a character who says what he thinks. They are entrepreneurs used to winning. Now the championship is very long. He is putting significant pressure on us and the team must be strong both on the pitch and in the head.”

On the situation in Triestina? Has any mistake been made?

“Trieste is an important place. I don’t like it and it’s difficult to make judgments from afar. Surely, however, mistakes were made. Even there, even if it is not Vicenza or Catania, the pressures are there. To be last like this after 13 races certainly shows that gross mistakes have been made. I don’t understand how anyone can say that good performances were achieved.”

You have coached in both Serie C and Serie A. Where does the coach matter most?
“In general, for me in Serie C the value of the players is very equal between the teams and therefore the coaches matter a lot. For me in C it is more important than in higher categories.”

What are your thoughts on how the defensive department has changed over the years?
“Football is moving more and more towards the gaming aspect. It must be said, however, that the top two in Serie A have the best defences. It’s a law: to win championships you have to defend well. From an individual point of view, I think the youth sectors are important.”
