Empoli will conclude this cycle of championship matches before the break with another direct clash: after hosting Como, the Tuscan team coached by Roberto D’Aversa will go to play on the Lecce pitch (the match is scheduled for tomorrow evening at 8.45pm). A very particular challenge for the coach, as the Salento team was the last team he coached (until March last season) before accepting the call from Empoli. An adventure that ended in a daring manner and ahead of its time due to the episode of the now famous headbutt against Thomas Henry, then a Verona striker.
D’Aversa says about the return to the Via del Mare stadium in Lecce: “After what happened I remained to live in Lecce, either because the children went to school or because we had many friends. I will be happy to see many people again, even within the club such as Corvino and Trinchera. I cannot forget the emotions that I experienced in that stadium, like when we overturned against Lazio and Milan. Having said that, it is clear that I am the coach of Empoli and it is right that we go into it thinking about the fact that this is an important match.”
