Leonardo on the poison: “Mbappé should have been sold first. PSG had Real’s offer”

Pandora’s box uncovered. The interview by Leonardothe sporting director of Paris Saint-Germain between 2019 and 2022, released to the notebooks of Le Figaro has made clear a heavy background on the Kylian Mbappé case. In fact, the Brazilian manager left his post after another tumultuous summer and explained that he was very close to the contractual dynamics of the French champion before he decided to move to Real Madrid.

In this case, in fact, Leonardo revealed that he even wanted to sell Kylian Mbappé even before the last season in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower: “I was against it, at the level that was done. At all times. From the beginning. I even think it should have been sold at the end of the 2020-2021 season, when PSG he had an offer from Real Madrid and he only had one year left on his contract.”

The former Inter coach continued his revelation. In his opinion, the contract extension signed by PSG with Mbappé demonstrated a lack of respect for the institution of the Parisian club: “How can we manage the situation afterwards? If you lose a player it’s annoying, but the club doesn’t die. Which great institution collapsed by losing a player? It may take time, but we always get back on our feet. I was a player, but an element can never be more important than a club.”
