2.45pm – Tomorrow Bologna will take to the field at the Dall’Ara against Monaco, on the occasion of the fourth Champions League match which will see the Bologna players as protagonists. Bologna coach Vincenzo Italiano will present the match today from the press room of the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium. Up here TUTTOmercatoWEB.com we offer you the direct text of the technician’s statements.

3.00pm – The Italiano press conference begins

After the previous Champions League matches, now comes a more accessible match. What do you think?
“Affordable, I never thought of that. I think that now we have to look for the performance to get the result, especially in front of our fans. Here with Shaktar we performed well, as well as with Liverpool and Aston Villa. Now, however, we need something in more and tomorrow we have to try to do it. If it becomes ‘affordable’ we will find out in the end. Monaco is going strong at the moment, they are a confident team and we have to raise the bar tomorrow.”

This morning we tried to understand something from your training. Do you already have in mind the 11 who will leave tomorrow? Will Castro or Dallinga play?
“Today we are not thinking about the next match in the championship. Tomorrow we face a team that raises the full-backs a lot, and today we tried something to propose to try to put them in difficulty. We will still take this into account until tomorrow since someone was still very tired today. doubt remains for the attack: we also tried to play with both but at the moment we won’t propose it again in the Champions League, against teams where we will need to have a few more men in the middle of the pitch.”

Monaco are coming off a bad defeat in the league… How is Ferguson?
“I don’t know how the opponents react to the opponents after defeats but I know how we experience the fact of arriving at this match after two victories. Furthermore, we are playing at home and I repeat that here at the stadium I see a fantastic atmosphere: I am sure that our fans they will support us until the end because we need everyone. Ferguson is fine, he is starting to increase his loads because he wants to get into shape. The match against Lecce allowed me to put him in because there was little in that area where he took over density little by little we will start to increase because he is an important player for us and we want him to be in top condition soon.”

Is it possible to replicate a trident with three players who are external on the list? Can Odgaard become a takeover card?
“Our doubt for tomorrow is this: Orsolini in Birmingham was forced to sacrifice himself more and in the second half we were forced to replace him. Tomorrow it will be something like that because their full-backs become attackers. We will have to sacrifice ourselves. Speaking of Odgaard he is doing well in the attacking midfield and in my opinion that is his role because compared to when he plays as a winger I see him more involved. At the moment we will continue on this path we will evaluate tomorrow.”

How is Lykogiannis?
“Lykogiannis returned to the group today but was in sufficient condition to return to the pitch at his best. Tomorrow, however, Miranda will start again: we will have to be good at taking advantage of his crosses.”

At what point is your growth process considering the last two games without conceding a goal?
“I believe there has been growth in the department. Against Lecce we conceded few shots to our opponents and that was what we wanted. In the last matches, against Cagliari and Genoa, we conceded too much to our opponents, lowering the attention threshold. Against In Lecce we did very well in this respect. The motivation has grown both in the team and in the individuals.”

When you look at the Champions league table what do you think? Are the playoffs a real goal?
“It’s something that we will try to achieve without the obsession of performing above our level. I came from the Conference and I saw very strong teams in Europe, but what I’m seeing in the Champions League, especially in the two outings, is something I don’t we were used to it. Our goal is to try to arrive in the 24 hours: if we make it it will mean that we have done a great job, but for us it must be about growth and the obsession is to play well, not the ranking “
