Milan ends an entertaining first half ahead in Monza: for now Reijnders decides

After 45 very entertaining minutes, Milan took the lead on the Monza pitch thanks to Tijjani Reijnders’ goal.

Goal disallowed: Monza protests
Ready to go, Milan immediately became dangerous with Chukwueze and after a few minutes only a finishing error by Theo for Pulisic avoided another shiver for the Monza defense. But it is the hosts who take the lead, at least for a few seconds: Mota Carvalho hits a second ball into the net after good work from Pereira on the right, but Feliciani cancels everything because in the action there is contact between Bondo and Theo Hernandez judged to be a foul: strong protests from Monza to the referee, but it is his, the referee’s, assessment on the pitch and the VAR cannot intervene.

Reijnders returns and scores
From that moment the game becomes fun, with actions from one side and the other. The red and whites came closest to taking the lead, with Pereira finding an excellent Maignan to say no and Maldini hitting the post after a good dribble. But it was Milan who took the lead, thanks to a perfect counterattack: Chukwueze opened on the right for Pulisic, a cross for Morata who headed the save from Izzo, but the carom favored Reijnders who again headed the 1 to the bottom of the bag -0. Monza falls apart and at half-time Nesta will have to restore order to the first half of the match.
