Clashes occurred during the night, on the A2 motorway, at the Tarsia junction, in the province of Cosenza, between ultras from Catania and Cavese. It was around 3 in the morning – report the colleagues of the Southern Gazette – when the two fans, who were returning from different locations, began to occupy the lanes of the motorway throwing firecrackers, stones and glass bottles.
From what was said by some fans, some also took iron bars and truncheons. According to what was reported by the police, fortunately there were no injuries. However, the scuffles alarmed the motorists who were passing by at the time, so much so that they preferred to change direction so as not to be involved.
The clashes caused slowdowns and disruption to traffic on the highway. The Cosenza police have started investigations to try to reconstruct what happened. The Catania fans were returning from Torre del Greco, where their team had played against Turris, the Cavese fans were returning from Messina, where their team had played.
