Ranieri: “Pizzas, lightness and Bocelli. What memories of the Premier League with Leicester”

During his long interview with Corriere della Sera, Claudio Ranieri he also returned to talk about the historic success in the Premier League with Leicester, a ride that led the Foxes to win the most followed and richest championship on the entire planet to date. These are Ranieri’s memories:

In June he left in tears…
“Look, I’m honest: Cagliari is more important to me than Leicester.”

But how, that was the feat of the century: the championship with a small team in the most famous and difficult championship in the world. A modern fairy tale…
“I didn’t think I would win. I’m not a dreamer and I know how difficult the Premier League is. My concern in that period was to keep things light-hearted in the dressing room.”

Is this why he transformed players into real pizza chefs?
“It all started as a bet. We were conceding too many goals and then I said: if we keep the door closed I’ll offer you pizza. I found a place, in the heart of Leicester, that also allowed us to cook it. Fun evenings that served to cement the group”.

In the end you did it.
“A perfect, unrepeatable year. All the planets aligned. Just think that maestro Bocelli called me because he wanted to come and sing for us. He agreed with the company on a date and by chance it happened immediately after we had won the title. Perfect evening”.
