Last night Kvicha Kvaratskhelia celebrated his first 100 games with the Napoli shirt with the second goal at San Siro against Milan, the goal of the final 0-2. It was his goal: receiving the ball wide to the left, the Georgian player concentrated, evading the markings of Emerson Royal and Fofana and then let loose a nice curling shot, which ended up in the net also thanks to a rebound a few meters away from Maignan who disoriented the French goalkeeper.
Arriving in the summer of 2022 from Dinamo Batumi for ten million euros, Kvaratskhelia immediately established himself as the ideal replacement for Lorenzo Insigne. His impact on Serie A was devastating and it is no coincidence that that year, also thanks to his arrival and that of Kim, the Neapolitan team won a historic Scudetto, the third in Napoli’s history.
In these hundred matches the importance and centrality of Kvaratskhelia in Napoli’s eleven has never been questioned. Also because his numbers are extraordinary: thirty goals in 100 games, 23 assists and five penalties awarded. Data and performances which, combined with the identity card (Kvara is now 23 years old) have attracted the attention of all the big teams in recent months, especially Paris Saint-Germain who presented themselves with an offer of 100 million in the summer of euros promptly rejected by president De Laurentiis.
Precisely that offer, however, which in the attachment presented a salary proposal of 10 million per season, made the negotiation for the renewal of the contract expiring in June 2026 decidedly uphill: Napoli with the latest proposal has gone up to six million euros including bonuses, Kvara through his entourage is asking for eight. The distance is considerable, farewell at the end of the season is anything but unlikely. “The players who are with us will remain in Naples as long as we wish. What if Kvaratskhelia left? There have been previous cases, we have never had a problem with it. It is important to respect the wishes of the players, who must also respect our investments” , said Aurelio De Laurentiis nine days ago.
