In the interview he gave after the match, the goalkeeper explained his intervention to Ziggo Sports: “I tried to take the ball, but it was too late and I hit him. At first I was hoping for offside, so I waited a little longer before going in. When after the intervention it was clear that it wasn’t offside, I came in straight away. I know it made things more difficult for the boys, it’s not something you want. I think we played quite well, we often took the ball away and they didn’t have many big chances either. I have a lot of respect for these kids.”
