New stadium in San Siro, mayor Sala: “I tell the residents that we will improve the area”

(ANSA) – MILAN, OCTOBER 24 – In Milan the hypothesis of building a new stadium for Inter and Milan in the San Siro area with the old facility that will be repurposed seems close, but among the citizens there is concern about the new concrete flow that could hit the area. “I say two things to the residents – Mayor Giuseppe Sala explained this morning on the sidelines of a press conference -: one that we will try to do everything we can to improve the area, bring more greenery and no more chaos and traffic and also that “the funds that the Municipality will take” from the sale of the stadium and the area to the teams “we will use them to improve the public housing which is decidedly lacking there”. “The San Siro facility will not be dedicated to events that will bring people, concerts or other matches – he clarified -. So the Meazza will need to be preserved in part, we will work to do what the teams need, trying to preserve the historical remains”. Furthermore, according to the mayor, “parking management will need to be improved”.

However, Milan continues to hold up the hypothesis of a stadium in San Donato, until the Revenue Agency’s estimate on the value of the areas and the old stadium is known. “Certain statements must also be understood, Milan has already made an investment in San Donato – commented Sala -. I have nothing else to add until, as I hope, something happens which will be the turning point, and that is that the teams will make an expression of interest. With the Revenue Agency’s assessment we are almost there.” (HANDLE).
