The German defender, vice-European champion Mats Hummels, continues to find no space in Ivan Juric’s Roma. Zero minutes played with the Giallorossi shirt, the former Borussia Dortmund player had yesterday been pre-announced by the Croatian coach as a possible starter for the 6.45pm match against Dinamo Kiev: “We are thinking about Hummels from the first minute”, declared Juric on the day of the eve.
Today, however, the center back born in 1988 is back on the bench. A choice that will certainly not please a footballer who in recent days has repeatedly complained about his lack of employment. “More Champions League team of the season trophies than minutes played this year,” he wrote in a recent post. He added: “I always take it with humor, so please interpret it as such. A little late for the party but the package traveled from Dortmund to Rome.”
