AGCOM points the finger at DAZN. A stop to Piracy Shield was proposed (and rejected).

Details continue to emerge regarding what happened last Saturday, when reports were added that brought to light what appears to be an error on the part of the anti-piracy platform Piracy Shieldwith the blocking of numerous addresses connected to Google Drive.

From the official note issued by AGCOM, the communications regulator, we can see the warning sent to DAZN, considered responsible for any disruptions as it is qualified as a reporting body. AND from the press release we also learn that one of the four AGCOM commissioners, specifically Elisa Giomi, would have asked for the temporary suspension of Piracy Shield. Rejected, however. In fact, we read: “The Authority, by majority, also rejected Commissioner Elisa Giomi’s proposal to suspend the activity of the platform”.

Below are the first passages of the same statementreleased in the press by AGCOM: “The Authority’s Council, in today’s meeting, in light of the technical report presented by the competent offices on the event that occurred on Saturday evening in relation to a block report reported by mistake to Google Drive, decided to warn DAZN as an accredited whistleblower on the Piracy Shield platform, to ensure maximum diligence and rigor in the presentation of blocking requests and in the collection of the relevant evidence. The Authority has reserved the right to take all measures within its jurisdiction of non-compliance”.
