Piacenza football in mourning: Gigi Rocca passed away at the age of 61. He made his Serie A debut with Inter

Piacenza football, and not only it, is in mourning: on Sunday, following a cardiac arrest, he passed away at the age of 61 Luigi Roccaformer footballer, among others from Piacenza, Inter, Taranto and Casertana.

He alerted his companions and collapsed to the ground: 118 was immediately called, but the arrival of the medical car and an ambulance were not enough to save his life. The defibrillator present on site was also used and an air ambulance was also sent from Parma: once taken to the Guglielmo da Saliceto hospital, Rocca died.

Born in ’63, a midfielder who grew up in the Inter youth team, Rocca had made his professional debut with the Nerazzurri shirt, taking over from Oriali in the UEFA Cup against Adanaspor, before making his debut in Serie A, in 1982, against ‘Avellino. He reached various stages during his career, first as a footballer and then as a coach in the lower categories. In his palmarès, the victory of the Serie C1 championship, achieved in 1991 with the Piacenza shirt.
