Lazio, the reactions to the defeat in Turin: Baroni compliments, Fabiani thunders against VAR

Lazio defeat at home Juventus after almost 70 minutes outnumbered. In fact, the Biancocelesti’s match was compromised in the 24th minute, when Romagnoli brought down Kalulu who was thrown into the net on the edge of the area and, after Mr. Sacchi’s consultation with VAR, he was sent off with a direct red card. From then on at the Allianz Stadium we saw a Juventus siege, with the Biancocelesti doing well to build a wall in front of Provedel. It was only an own goal by Mario Gila in the 86th minute that undermined the defensive line and gave the Old Lady a deserved success.

Mister Marco Baroni’s analysis in the conference
“I only want to talk exclusively about the match. I saw a convincing performance, the team played the match we wanted. Then there was this episode after 20 minutes. The team maintained a low block, with personality, compactness and balance. I congratulate the boys. We don’t leave this match empty-handed, but with greater awareness.”

Sports director Angelo Fabiani’s outburst over the VAR’s inconsistent judgment
“It’s not about being angry, we have to congratulate our boys who played an exceptional match. All football demands uniformity of judgements. Douglas Luiz punches Patric before the goal, but VAR doesn’t intervene. Douglas himself enters with a hammer foot on Rovella, but even there the VAR does not intervene and instead intervened on the red card for Romagnoli. An episode which the referee could not see. In Florence we suffered two penalties: if the VAR helps, it must help for everyone and not one way. At this rate we are not going anywhere. This year, not only at Lazio, VAR is doing great damage: there is no uniformity.”
