Omorodion: “The senior national team? The time will come. Eto’o and CR7 are my idols”

Samu Omorodion he is now a certainty for Porto and is one of the most prolific players in Europe since the start of the season. The 20-year-old of Nigerian origins, for whom the Portuguese side paid 15 million euros into Atlético Madrid’s coffers for 50% of the fee, definitively showed up on the big stage by scoring a brace in the 3-3 draw in the Europa League against Manchester United. In the last international break he was a protagonist with the Spanish Under-21 team, scoring a poker against Malta in just 45′.

The striker was interviewed by the Federation’s official channels: “I started like the vast majority of players, thanks to idols. The first is Eto’o, the second Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese has worked hard to improve, like few others. I identify with him a lot.”

A few days ago, Omorodion himself admitted that he is not worried about making the leap to the senior national team straight away, because he is convinced that the call will come soon. Part of this confidence was passed on to him by his current coach, Santi Denia: “When things weren’t going so well, he gave me the confidence I needed.” On Luis de la Fuente: “He has the ability to manage the group very well, I’m happy with everything he’s achieving. At Porto instead Vitor Bruno coaches him: “He’s a boss, I really like his character and the way he leads the team.”
