Lionel Messi he is the player who has won the most trophies in the history of football. The Argentine phenomenon boasts 102 awards (56 individual and 46 team) and yesterday received the MARCA America Award, an award that recognizes his exceptional career. These were his statements during the event held in Miami.
Do you remember your first title as a child?
“I saw photos of my first trophy as a child, but I don’t remember it. I definitely wasn’t aware of everything that was going to happen. I’ve loved football since I was little. It’s my passion.”
Do you count the titles?
“I don’t do it, maybe I remember the individual ones more. It was spectacular to see the video, a lot of things go through my head. We also had difficult moments, it’s not all good, but the disappointments helped me grow.”
The relationship with the Argentina national team.
“I love playing football. We recently played a match in a packed Monumental, everyone was chanting my name and that of my teammates. I’ve had a lot of bad moments with Argentina and I’m grateful for what I’m experiencing now I’m taking advantage of it because I know that time is running out. The love I have for this sport is great. We are lucky to win so many titles, I fought hard for this moment to come and I’m enjoying it , you appreciate many more things. Coming to Miami wasn’t a retreat: I wanted to make a new club great and now we want to win more titles.”
Next goal or dream?
“I managed to make all my dreams come true and achieve much more than I dreamed of as a child. I managed to make a player’s biggest dream come true, which is to win a World Cup. I won many titles in the club of my life, which is Barcelona. I also won in Paris and now with Inter Miami but I want to fight for more.”
Will you be there at the 2026 World Cup?
“I don’t rush, I try to enjoy everything day after day. When the time comes we’ll see, I don’t like to rush things. I hope I can continue to play at this level, feel good and be happy. This is more important than All”.
