Mantua, Possanzini: “Important weeks for work. The disqualification? Trust in the staff”

Challenge between newly promoted teams at the ‘Dei Marmi’ stadium in Carrara among the hosts of the Carraresethe first in its plant after the modernization work, and the Mantua. As usual, the Virgilian coach spoke about the match Davide Possanzini: “We have lived these weeks well – he reported MantovaUno -, we worked very well in my opinion, trying to raise the bar even with last week’s bar. I’m happy, we’re getting there well. Obviously after the break there is always the unknown of how you will resume, but based on how the boys have trained I am very confident.”

Space, then, for an evaluation of the importance of this salvation clash: “It is indicative as all matches are indicative, it is normal that the importance of each match is real. We have to think that it is an important match but it is not even the last of the championship. We have to try to tackle it by doing and trying to get the most out of it, but aware of the fact that our main objective at this point in the championship is to consolidate our idea a little, which is to try to fix the things that went less well and to assert ourselves in what led us to do the best things. I believe that this is the key to understanding the match and I want my players, beyond the fact that every match is important, to go onto the pitch conscious and aware of what they can do.”

Tomorrow is a match between two newly promoted teams who have changed few players: “I think it should be normal for a coach to try to work a bit on his idea, and to work on his idea you need to have time. It’s as if I were grist for my mill but it’s not like that, for me, for every type of path one takes, for every job, to achieve certain objectives it takes constancy, perseverance, one must inevitably go through moments in which the things are not going well. I believe a lot in that, in the continuity of work. Today’s football, like life, is very fast so you don’t have the patience to wait for the path you take. I am a person who believes a lot in evolutions, more than in revolutions, unless there is something that isn’t right. Time is an important parameter, but today there is little time. The fact is that I am lucky to have a club that has supported me in this up to now, I am very happy and I owe a lot to them and every day I try to do my best to repay the trust they are giving me.”

Finally, a thought on the fact of not being on the bench, as he is disqualified: “Andrea Massolini is such a balanced and respectable person that I have the utmost trust in him and in my staff. Then it’s clear that my players now know my gestures on the bench, they probably don’t even need to speak to communicate, they can now see it from their posture (laughs). I’m sorry, but when someone makes a mistake it’s right that they pay, I’ll stay in the stands and try in some way to get some messages across, but I have full faith in my staff and I’m calm from that point of view. Because of the tension, maybe I’ll have someone from the club nearby and I’ll vent to them.”
