Dacourt on Totti: “It’s shocking that he doesn’t work at Roma. De Rossi? We need respect”

Former midfielder Olivier Dacourt presented Roma-Inter to the notebooks of ‘Gazzetta.it’. Double former (three years in the capital, the same number in Milan), the transalpine after hanging up his boots has embarked on a completely new career: “For years I ran an Italian restaurant here in France, then I opened an art gallery and shot and wrote four documentaries. Now I’m on my first film, a dream come true.”

This is Dacourt’s thoughts on the two teams: “Inter are very strong. I followed them both in the league and in the Champions League, they are dominant. But I won’t say it from today, it’s been like this for at least two years. Inzaghi is doing an extraordinary job. What can I say about Roma … there’s a bit of confusion, but don’t give up on the Giallorossi as doomed. They can surprise you at any moment.”

Dacourt then spoke about Roma’s decision to sack De Rossi after four matchdays: “Daniele is a dear friend, a real person. Someone who tells you things to your face. I heard from him two days ago, but we didn’t talk about football. I believe that a little more patience and above all a little more respect would have been necessary for a man and a flag like him.”

Finally, a thought on Francesco Totti’s absence from the Roma organization chart: “It’s sensational. Do you understand what I mean when I say respect is needed? Francis in Rome is a monument, it is history. And then I’m sure it would be useful, perhaps supported by those who deal with the sporting part. But when a new player arrives in Rome, the fact that someone like Totti can explain to him what it means to wear that shirt would trigger something inside, it would give a different push. I would like to see him one day as an ambassador for the club.”
