Juventus Women, Canzi: “We played on par with Bayern Munich”

Max Canzi, spoke at a press conference after Juventus Women’s defeat against Bayern Munich 0-2. TUTTOmercatoWEB.com brings you the press conference of the Juventus coach.

How do you evaluate Juve’s performance?
“They started better and it should be recognised. They were better. Then we took measures and unfortunately we conceded a goal on a dead ball. Even the second on a dead ball. We have to improve on this, because we conceded goals like this even with the For their approach, I would give more credit to them than demerits to us.

Did you get involved in the second half?
“Playing so much is difficult. We try to rotate the players, but the fatigue accumulates. We try to rotate the players to allow us to field as many fresh players as possible but the fatigue accumulates. Despite this we finished in attack, so they dropped they too. If they, who are a big team, go down, I think it’s physiological that we go down too. We have to make better use of the opportunities when they come to us, today that makes the difference.”

TMW Question – Did you change Bennison because of the yellow card?
“It wasn’t because of the yellow card, we wanted to give more weight in the attacking phase because we were behind. While maintaining the same game system we inserted Barbara in that role who started as a midfielder but then we changed the system. Today we changed three systems of play, taking away a pure midfielder to put in a more attacking one. It’s absolutely not a failure for Bennison.”

On Boattin?
“I preferred to let her play straight away even though I knew she couldn’t play the whole match. She did very well and I don’t have to explain what a player Lisa is. For us, all comebacks like Krumbiegel’s are important.”

How do you judge the missed penalty on Caruso?
“In the end, referees are human beings and can make mistakes. Sometimes it happens in favor and sometimes against. I wouldn’t waste time judging. My warning is part of the game.”

How do we start again?
“Now we need a bit of rest. Let’s start from the assumption that the unbeaten streak couldn’t last forever. We start again from the performance and the mistakes. We are aware that we can compete with anyone. Beaten? No, we lost 2-0 against who had won much more in terms of goals scored against Arsenal. We played it out, we weren’t good at making the episodes come true but we have to keep our heads high, the spirit is the right one, we tried until the end to reduce the deficit. We start again with our heads held high.”
