Juric: “Why did I talk like that after Elfsborg. Pisilli a little intellectual”

During the back-and-forth with ‘Corriere dello Sport’, Roma coach Ivan Juric spoke about his comments after the defeat against Elfsborg. At the end of the defeat in the Europa League match, the Croatian coach said he was very satisfied with his team’s performance: “In all sincerity that evening I wanted to see the whole squad in action, understand who to count on, time is not much and for me it is important. I think we did many good things. Defeat is not acceptable, I am aware of this, but the team managed to move well. We were poor in the last few metres, with many wasted goals, we only got one crossbar.

And again: “The negative side was the counterattacks we suffered. A flaw that derives from the positions of the midfielders, but these are things that can be fixed, I can work on them. I saw a good base, we created a lot, we took too many counterattacks, I was saying , but already in Monza we suffered much less in this sense. Working on prevention and positions is fundamental. The midfielders must guarantee a certain balance.”

During the question and answer, Juric then spoke about Pisilli, a young midfielder returning from his debut with the Italy shirt: “You fall in love in a short time. He’s young, he has to grow up, he comes from an intellectual family, he’s a little intellectual, he’s calm, serene, he thinks; he has a talent that until now I’ve never seen in such young boys. He has first control , perception of things, technique. If he continues like this, working without getting too excited, he will have a great career.”
