Doping case, Pogba defends himself: “I checked the supplement three times, I’m not a cheat”

Earlier this month the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduced ‘s sentence to 18 months Paul Pogba which initially read four years of suspension for doping. The Juventus midfielder gave an exclusive interview to the microphones of Sky Sports UK and recounted the experience he had away from the field, explaining what really happened.

The first words: “I take responsibility for having taken the supplement, but I didn’t triple check it, even though it came from a professional,” Pogba assured in the first instance. “If I have to be punished, I’m fine with that. But it shouldn’t have been four years. I’ll accept 12 months.”

Many rumors have circulated around the 31-year-old Frenchman, while his fans always hoped he was clean: “When you see me, you know me. People know me. So even when everything happened, people said, ‘We know Paul, he would never take it.’ If he had, he wouldn’t have known and he wouldn’t have he would have done it on purpose. And that’s absolutely the truth. I’m an honest person, I say that.”

In short, Pogba has declared himself unrelated to the voluntary intake of the banned substance DHEA: “I’m not a cheater, I’m a person who loves his sport. I love the game and would never, ever do it. I like to win fairly and people know it. You see me. I’m a bad loser, but I’m not a cheater, that’s for sure.”
