Tresoldi still on target with the German Under-21 team: will the 20-year-old be a regret for Italy?

A year and a half ago he experienced intense emotions facing Roberto Bollini’s Italy Under-19 team. Today Nicolò Tresoldi aims to lead the Germany Under-21s: the striker born in 2004 of clear Italian origins is now a cornerstone of the national team led by Antonio Di Salvo.

Son of art, emigrated with his family – Tresoldi scored today in the German U21’s 3-3 draw against Poland. He made his debut in September 2023, in a friendly against Ukraine, and has already scored 4 goals in 7 matches, all recent; at 20 he is a promising player in European football and Italy hopes to change his mind. Son of art – father Emanuele was a full-back for Marcello Lippi and Emiliano Mondonico’s Atalanta, as well as for the Under-21 national team led by Cesare Maldini and European champion in 1994 -, Nicolò moved to Hannover with the whole family in the summer of 2017 and it was right here that he got noticed: immediately signed up by the local team, he signed his first professional contract in January 2022.

This season he has played nine matches with the first team between Bundesliga 2 and the German Cup, with 1 goal and 1 assist to his credit. “Here I feel valued,” he said in an interview. The hope is that he can change his mind and become the future of the national team.
