Pontedera, an appeal will be lodged against the heavy disqualification inflicted on Italeng

Deleterious, for the Pontederathe match against Carpi two weeks ago, not only for the defeat and how it developed, but also for the consequences it left: coach Alessandro Agostini was sacked – who was replaced by Leonardo Menichini – and striker (and team top scorer) Jonathan Italeng was suspended for four matchessent off “for having, in the 40th minute of the second half, behaved violently towards an opposing player, in that, after having suffered a foul, after the referee’s whistle, he reacted by hitting him in the face with an elbow, without cause him consequences” (CLICK HERE for the complete report from the Sports Judge).

The new coach’s debut, therefore, took place without the attacking midfielder (and the match against Torres was once again unfortunate, with the Granata knocked out at home 2-3), but Menichini himself could also recover him sooner than expected: the Tuscan company, in fact, has decided to appeal against the decision of the Sports Judge, and it will therefore be clear shortly whether at least one matchday will be deducted from the disqualification.

Let us remember in the meantime that the next three matches will see Pontedera involved against Gubbio, in Umbria, with Entella within the friendly walls of ‘Mannucci’ and against Pescara; having the player back at least for the match against the Abruzzo team would be a good starting point.
