Is Gravina running again? The FIGC president: “On November 4th I will say what I plan to do”

Gabriele Gravina does not dissolve his reservations regarding his re-nomination for a third mandate at the helm of the FIGC. During a long interview given to ‘Il Messaggero Veneto’, Gravina announced that he will give an answer on the issue only after the next Assembly scheduled for 4 November: “I have made a commitment, I will dissolve this reservation after the Assembly for a of respect towards the delegates. I don’t want the statutory change to be conditioned by the decision of my candidacy. Then I will say what I plan to do, however, I have no intention of leaving Italian football in the hands of people who don’t have it vision and love for football,” he said.

Then in another passage he added: “Football must always be a bearer of peace and values. It cannot be considered extraneous, by vocation, to what happens in the world, but it is an instrument of great socialization, it has always broken down barriers, brought together different cultures, made people dialogue: the football must not bow to the logic of politics, but is one of the elements that generates dialogue between peoples.”

And finally: “Do you remember the US-Iran match? We hope that the war will end and the hostages will be released, a tangible sign of respect for the dignity of people”.
