Avellino, D’Agostino: “Patience? I would have sacked him after the first day, happy with Biancolino”

Angelo Antonio D’Agostinopresident of Avellino, gave a long interview to the microphones of First TV. Among the many topics touched on, the Irpinia number one also spoke about Biancolino and Pazienza’s dismissal: “The Biancolino treatment works, because it is highlighting the qualities of the individual players. The team certainly responded well in this first phase We are doing well and we hope to continue like this. After the victory against Casertana I went to congratulate the players and told them that we must not get carried away, but we must keep our feet on the ground and live match after match with the coach. Biancolino, who I thank because he accepted this difficult challenge, I was sure that we could do well with him, because he has been part of the Avellino family for a few years and has shown that he knows how to do his job with the Primavera, winning a championship. He was the right person and the first team seems to play like the Primavera, attacking football. He is a great worker, a very quiet person, and I am convinced he can do well.”

“He presented himself with great humility, making himself available as always. He ran to us at night, even at midnight, in a meeting to agree with us what needed to be done, before forming the team around him. Choice which is paying off, it’s wonderful to see the team playing in this way, highlighting the characteristics and qualities of the players. It means that a good job has been done in the construction phase of the team, together with a staff that is no longer there, but who I thank for the work done. I think they did a good job but then it’s clear that football is like this: we can be good, but if the results don’t come, we can’t do anything about it. Unfortunately, we had to come to this decision I couldn’t make a partial choice at that point, and so everyone went away, trying to make a change and a shock, as Biancolino did”.

Pazienza’s exemption?
“If it had been up to me, the way I think, I would have already sacked him after the first day. Then, it was said: let’s stay calm, we’ve made a plan, let’s try to understand, first day, you know… The first day was very traumatic for me. Something that no one expected. It’s true that we went to a difficult field, where few people win, against a good team, but when you lose like that, you think you made a mistake somewhere. We have I wanted to give Mister Pazienza the opportunity to move forward, because there was a project and the coach had to be given time to work with the team he built. I was patient, yes, but you have to think with your head and not with your gut. Maybe if I had thought in my gut, we wouldn’t have chosen Biancolino and would have made a different choice, some other name, but now we’re happy like this, we just need to recover points. We clearly regret these four draws, but let’s look forward, it’s there time to recover”, his words reported by Tuttoavellino.it
