Simone Pafundi gave an interview to ‘Cronache di Spogliatoio’. Owned by Udinese but currently on loan to Lausanne, the player born in 2006 will return to Italy at the end of the year given that the agreement between the two clubs for the temporary transfer will expire on 31 December: “After this experience in Switzerland I am ready for Serie A, where there are many young players now. Here I learned above all the defensive phase: there are many reversals in front. Looking at the numbers one can say: ‘But Pafundi didn’t do well in Switzerland ‘But, watching the matches, I would say no. And then I have grown physically and in confidence. The experience in the Under 20s is confirming that I am fine.’
Pafundi then returned to his early adventure in the senior national team: “Mancini had already called me up for an internship but from there to actually being called up to the greats…”. And instead it really happened: “I was going by bus to Naples when Corradi, who was my coach in the Under, called me. He said to me: ‘Do you have to tell me something?’. I replied: ‘No, mister, why?’. He says to me: ‘A little bird told me that…’ I went crazy: ‘Mister, are you kidding me?’ Gnonto, Scalvini and Miretti helped me, even the most historic ones, clearly.
There his life changed forever: “There was a lot of pressure that came from it. I suffered a little, but now I’m ready.”
