Present at the Sports Festival currently taking place in Trento, the former footballer, coach and manager Leonardo he spoke about the current affairs of Italian football (and not only) to the microphones of the journalists present, including TMW. Many topics were touched upon, including the favorites for the Scudetto: “The Italian championship is so difficult and open to so many teams that today it is really complicated to say who can truly be the favourite. Inter is the champion team, that certainly counts given that there is a continuity of many years with the same coach, the same players, the same project and this certainly gives stability. Then Napoli is proving to be growing, an important push can come from Conte who is a motivator, al beyond his skill. I see Milan as having a bit more difficulty, they are looking for a new identity with some problems. Let’s say they are further away from winning today.”
Speaking of lack of identity, can Morata be the leader of this Milan team that needs a strong personality on the pitch? “I think he already is, even if he arrived recently, he knows Italy and comes from a European Championship won as captain, so certainly with the strength to be able to be a leader and he is already proving it.”
Is Fonseca the right man for Milan? “Who am I to say… He has just started and all coaches need time, it seems trivial but it’s like that.”
