Gudmundsson, the most awaited day: acquitted in Iceland of sexual harassment charges

The legal issue that had been a source of concern since 2023 was resolved today Albert Gudmundsson and since last summer – that is, from the moment of his purchase – also Fiorentina. The Icelandic playmaker had been sued by a woman and, as is known, was present in court in Reykjavik during the previous international break, between 12 and 13 September. This time, however, due to the appeal sentence Gudmundsson remained in Florence waiting for news from Iceland. News that was positive. Gudmundsson was in fact found innocent of the charge of “sexual misconduct” involving him and was therefore acquitted. Further updates are expected in the next few hours on any appeal that could be brought forward by the prosecution within a month.

Happy, over the moon is the player who left a comment on social media: “Innocent. This is the clear conclusion of the Reykjavik District Court in a sentence issued today. While still confident of a positive outcome of the case, the sentence comes with some relief It’s been a tough year, honestly and it’s not easy to deal with mentally, but I’ve learned that my family and friends are everything to me and I will forever be grateful.

Finally, I would like to express that I will never support any form of violence. As a father of two children, including a young daughter, and with three younger sisters, I sincerely hope that this case does not cause any harm to other women who are genuine victims of violence. Now I can move on with my life and focus on what I do best.”
