“All in all I’m quite happy with the start of the championship, we’ve changed a lot by keeping only six players from last year. We made many operations in the last few days of the transfer market, the dynamics and movements this year were lower, I knew that by coming to Gubbio I would inherit a base of 8-9 contracts and that I would have to almost entirely rebuild the squad.” The sporting director of Gubbio Alessandro Degli Esposti during the interview given to TMW Radio during the usual appointment with To All C of the start of the season and then also focusing on the market and the growth of young people: “The club asked to rebuild using young prospects, I knew I had to do a lot by also changing the technical guide. To find a balance you need time, in this time the team has had the ability to obtain important victories, I still expect a phase of important growth, we are a very young team and with work we can grow and raise our ambitions ”.
How did the idea of entrusting the bench to Mr. Taurino come about?
“I know Roberto very well, we worked together in Bitonto and I respect him very much. He has a predisposition for dialogue and daily work, he must build a path for himself. He seemed destined for a different career, he had difficulties between Avellino and Monterosi, he saved Monopoli and now he has a great opportunity here in Gubbio to build an important path here or even elsewhere. He has the qualities to try to do something important.”
This season you are showcasing a lot of young people. What developments could there be for them?
“I hope that regardless of personal gratification, I hope that it is a gratification for the whole of society. We have decided to acquire players who due to their date of birth are futuristic in Italian football, there are players of important quality, I wouldn’t want to forget someone by naming names. In the last few hours of the transfer market, Giovannini also arrived and he is an absolute talent in this category. In addition to the 2-3 older players consolidated in this category, we are one of the youngest teams in the championship. We have many players born from 2002 onwards, we are very young and for this reason I am confident because I am convinced that the coach’s work can lead to a growth path for the team. I see the kids working on a daily basis and I believe there is great room for improvement.”
Iaccarino is one of the elements he has chosen to focus on the most
“I think Iaccarino is a certainty in his career, he is an absolutely talented boy. He is an all-rounder with great quality and quantity, he has his path mapped out. He must not make mistakes and must remain humble, he made a courageous choice by coming to play in Gubbio, I believe he is destined to grow and I hope he can do so in higher categories too. He has great human and technical values, the coach then trained him for six months in Monopoli and his integration process was quicker also for this reason.”
