Oddo on Baroni: “He was missing a great team, he’s doing an excellent job at Lazio”

TMW

In the long interview given to TMW on the sidelines of the Padel Pro Am Cup event in Viareggio, Massimo Oddo he focused on various topics including the progress of the Serie A teams up to this point in the championship: “Conte’s Napoli in first place in Serie A? The players are at the base of everything. Napoli is an extremely competitive, there are strong players, it has lost some players compared to the year of the championship, but essentially the team is the same, it is inevitable that it can stay in the top positions. Then the coach can do a lot, but he must be supported by a series of factors that they make sure you can win. Coach alone does nothing.”

Is Inter still the favorite despite the disqualification? “It’s one of those teams that has an extremely competitive squad, it’s Italian champions, it’s among the favorites but then there are other teams with other factors such as Napoli’s lack of cups that can help.”

The situation at Milan: in your opinion does Fonseca have total confidence or are there some doubts? “I’ll answer you as a footballer: if we question the coach after two days, then he risks no longer having strength. I read that he wins the derby and comes back into vogue, loses a match and is called into question. When a coach doesn’t perceive trust around, first and foremost the club, becomes a problem. When the club makes a choice, I believe it must pursue it forcefully. Behind the great victories, there are the great clubs, this is a great truth then that when there was a great force behind a coach, then that coach achieved great results.”

Baroni is doing a great job at Lazio, also enhancing several players such as Castellanos. “Already last year the attacker proved to be an important player despite having someone like Immobile in front of him. Lazio have built a good team, Baroni has been doing well for years. He was missing a great team and is doing an excellent job: the sums, as always, must be drawn in the end.”
