Mario Gabelli wants to buy the Monza. This is the news launched today by Corriere della Serawhich also reports the comment of a Fininvest spokesperson: “We do not comment on individual names. There are ongoing conversations with various potential partners, but in no case are these negotiations at an advanced stage”. The sale, essentially, is a possibility to which the holding company does not close the doors at all.

Italian American, born in New York but son of Italian immigrants from the province of Parma, born in ’42, he has been at the helm of Gamco Investorsa company of which he was the founder and which manages assets of 31 billion dollars.

His personal assets, second Forbesis estimated at around 1.9 billion dollars, equivalent to approximately 1.73 billion euros. In recent years, the portal explains, Gabelli’s attention has been focused on attacking passive funds, which according to the man are only good for “headless investors”. The manager instead claims to have always invested his time and money to make the customers’ money work. Gabelli’s reputation is in fact that of a meticulous shareholder bordering on litigious, in defending the interests of his investors. From this point of view, it is worth mentioning the possible recourse to legal action to block the merger between Paramount and Skydance. The latter has among its allies Gerry Cardinale, owner of RedBird and Milan.
