“It was a beautiful, wonderful moment, our meetings always convey incredible emotions. We may have a few more gray hairs and even a few more years, but we have retained the energy we had as players, and Marcello Lippi has also retained it with us who was the leader, the boss, of what we did in that beautiful event in Germany. All this also excites the people, we are a great group and we are friends. Thanks go to Davide Lippi who allowed us to experience these emotions.” : so, exclusively to TuttoMercatoWeb.com, Marco Ameliawhich comments on the dinner held yesterday between the Berlin 2006 World Champions. Dinner organized on the occasion of the Padel Pro Am Cup event, in which – with illustrious guests – the 18th anniversary of that Italian victory is also celebrated.

Eighteen years that seem like an eternity. And Amelia makes her analysis precisely on the short circuit created afterwards: “On the one hand the other national teams have improved a lot, even those which on paper are not at the level of the historical top teams, on the other in Italy, in our youth sectors, we have gone a little behind: it’s true that our national youth teams do well, but they lack the step needed to reach the first team. The Federation and the clubs are working towards this, I hope that in a short time many players emerge who can help a national team he has written very important pages in football. Giving what these young people need, especially those who have quality, is the mission we must give ourselves.”

After the bad European Championship, however, we started again: the victory against France was perhaps the most significant. How did you review this restart?
“It seems to me like a matured national team, which wants to demonstrate that the European Championship was a mistake caused by small factors, which we however paid for. The sensations are positive, there is a desire for revenge, to demonstrate that Italy is Italy , led by a great coach: the call-ups are the result of what we see in the championship, there are excellent qualities, and I really believe we are on the right path. And feeling people getting closer to the national team is a positive aspect.”

Did you see De Rossi yesterday: how did you find him after his dismissal from Roma, for which he gave everything?
“He gave his blood and soul for Roma, it’s normal that he was hurt by his dismissal, after all the work he did to improve the team. A team that had changed so much. The results determined the club’s decision, but more than the results it would be appropriate to look at the construction work to arrive at future results. In any case, Daniele will always be linked to Roma, he is a symbol of it, and I think the owners have now understood this: he is still a strong boy. he knows that this is part of our job. Over time he will prove himself right to those who have values, I’m sure he will be rewarded in his career.”

Mister Fonseca’s situation at Milan is very fluctuating: how are you seeing it?
“When you are coach of such an important club you have to live with the idea that results make the difference. Paulo has broad shoulders, he knows how to manage these situations well on a mental level, it all depends on how the boys respond, who are the ones who go on the pitch and convey to the fans what we see: Milan is an important team, of a club that has won a lot. The boys must therefore understand where they are, to get out of the swing of results that generates these insecurities that are not good for them.”

De Gea, after a year of inactivity, is back explosive.
“Strong goalkeepers do that. He’s been out of action, away from a club, but he’s always trained and made sure he was ready for any call. The strange thing is that he wasn’t called up before, it’s absurd that he wasn’t called. called a strong goalkeeper like him: even not having stayed at Manchester I struggle to understand, but as I said before, for De Rossi the values come out.”

Finally, a note to your staff. You’re fresh from being sacked from the Olbia bench…
“Let’s forget it, there’s really no point in talking about a situation like this.”
