Serie A, Casini raises the alarm: “If we don’t need a Marshall plan for Italian stadiums…”

Lorenzo Casinipresident of Serie A Leaguepresent in Bologna at the national event “General States of football: the white paper”, spoke from the stage to comment on the situation of the facilities in Italy: “If we don’t need a Marshall plan for Italian stadiums, I really don’t know what it needs serve. The theme of infrastructures – read on CalcioeFinanza.it – it’s not just about football, there is a disarming situation in Italy regarding the conditions of sports facilities. Only four out of 10 schools have a sports facility in Italy. In the south, only two out of 10.”

Casini continues talking about the FIGC report on investments in football until 2023, with a focus on new stadiums, compared to other main European countries: “Italy shows chronic difficulty in creating infrastructures, not only due to resources but also bureaucracy and the slowness and difficulty of the procedures. All this has repercussions on sports centres, with some exceptions. There is a gap with other European countries on this.”

CONI president Giovanni Malagò also spoke on the issue relating to stadiums: “It’s a broken record, you know. I’ve been talking about it for years, I’ve always supported my thesis: I am a standard-bearer, a standard-bearer of major sporting events because the history of the country has demonstrated very clearly from ’56 to today that if there are no major sporting events, major infrastructures cannot be created. It is the history of Italy that a mechanism must absolutely be set in motion to prevent this from happening accelerate investments with certain topics and times and, in the case of stadiums, the awareness of having a form of public, national interest, once everything is clarified among those who have to deal with it, we can go to lady, otherwise it won’t be possible.”
