Albania, captain absent: Djimsiti misses Nations League matches due to injury

Berat Djimsiti renounces Albania. The defender of Atalanta and coach Sylvinho’s national team will not take part in the upcoming Nations League matches against the Czech Republic and Georgia due to injury. The official communication sent by the Albanian Football Federation does not specify the extent of the injury, but the first memory certainly goes to leaving the pitch in Gelsenkirchen, on the occasion of the second round of the Champions League won by Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0. On that occasion the 31-year-old player had felt discomfort in his hip, later confirmed also by coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The official press release of the Albanian Football Federation
“The AFL Communications Department informs that captain Berat Gjimshiti will not be ready for the national team in the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against the Czech Republic and Georgia due to injury.

The Rossoneri defender was injured in the Champions League match, Shakhtar Donetsk – Atalanta, and did not return to the pitch after the end of the first half. Gjimshiti was not found with Atalanta even in the weekend’s championship match against Genoa.

The medical staff of the Albanian national team have been in constant communication with that of Atalanta and it has been decided that Gjimshiti is not at risk, that he recovers as soon as possible and returns to the field as soon as possible.

The final list of the national team has 23 players under coach Silvinjo and the technical staff has decided not to call up another player in the absence of Gjimshit.”
